SOLID GOLD MENUKI BY GOTO HOUJOU
Goto Houjou was also known as Goto Mitsuaki. He was born on August 3, 1816 and died on June 22, 1856. He was the third son of Goto Shinjou and he succeeded to the title of the sixteenth master of the main Goto line in July of 1833 when he was nineteen years old. He is considered to be the best Goto master after the twelfth mainline master, Juujou. His subjects were often very modern and not many are in the classic style of the Goto family school. He could, however, work in the style of any of his ancestors.
This is an excellent example of his work. They are well carved as fans with a floral design. They are solid gold and are signed on the bottom. They measure 1.5 inches or 3.8 cm and come in a custom made fitted box. They also have NBTHK Hozon papers attesting to their authenticity and quality.
PRICE: $3,500.00
