BIZEN ICHIMONJI
This is a new publication that was released last year and is already virtually sold out. . It is a fantastic exhibition catalog published by the Sano Museum covering an unbelievable display of Bizen Ichimonji blades that is currently on exhibit at the Sano museum. Unlike most exhibition catalogs, this one is hard bound and full of mostly color photos of some of the finest Ichimonji blades in Japan. It is about 140 pages and contains color photos, oshigata, koshirae, and a description (in Japanese) of fifty-two Ichimonji blades. There is also a listing of the blades in English. Most of these blades are National Treasure, Important Cultural Properties, or Important Art Objects. Included in this catalog is the only ubu, signed, and dated Ichimonji wakizashi that I have ever seen and possibly the only one in existence.
