A BEAUTIFUL KATANA BY BITCHU YASUHIRO IN HANDACHI MOUNTS

This is a very nice katana by the Shinto smith Yasuhiro. This sword is by the first or second generation smith by this name. I personally feel that it is the work of the second generation. These smiths worked in the middle of the 17th century in Settsu Province (Osaka Shinto) having migrated there from Omi Province. The hamon is a tight choji midare. The hada is a tight ko-itame with masame above the ji. This blade is ubu with one mekugi ana and the cutting edge measures 25 3/4 inches. This is a wide blade with a feeling of real strength. This blade has no problems or flaws and would be a great part of any collection.

Accompanying this sword is a set of koshirae done in handachi style. The motif is that of dragons. The tsuba is iron with a dragon carved on both sides. The fuchi and kashira are shibuichi with scroll work and dragons and the rest of the handachi fittings are en suite. The menuki are gold plated dragons.

This sword comes with NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon papers attesting to its quality and condition.

PRICE: $ 11,750.00
