NIDAI HIZEN YUKIHIRO
This is a beautiful wakizashi by the second generation Hizen smith, Yukihiro. The second generation Yukihiro worked inthe late 17th century. He is rated as a Jo-saku smith by Fujishiro. This blade is shinogi zukuri with a chu kissaki. The cutting edge is 22 5/8 inches. It is signed Ichi Hizen Dewa (no)Kami Fujiwara Yukihiro.The hada is a tight ko-itame or konuka hada for which the Hizen school is famous.
The temper is a wide gunome-midare with deep ashi giving it an almost choji-like appearance in areas. There is sunagashi and much ko-nie. The boshi is ko-maru with a medium turn-back.
This is a great example in wonderful condition.
