This is a very rare set of SIGNED fuchi/kashira by the Kaga smith Ujiyoshi. Signed Kaga work by this maker is exceedingly rare. Unjiyoshi's full signature reads Kashu Jyu Katsuki Ujiyoshi Saku. Ujiyoshi died around 1802. He worked in Kanazawa in Kaga Prefecture and was the son of Ujioku. This work is of the finest shakudo with golden butterflies inlaid in the Kaga style. They are in pristeen condition and were awarded Tokubetsu Hozon papers by the NBTHK. The fuchi measures 1 1/2 inches or 3.8 cm by 13/16 inches or 2.2 cm. The kashira measures 1 3/8 inches or 3.5 cm by 5/8 inches or 1.7 cm. They come in a custom made fitted wooden box.
