WAKIZASHI BY MASAHIRO
This is a wonderful wakizashi by the first generation Masahiro. He is a Jo-saku rated smith by Fujishiro and this blade shows why. This blade is signed Kawachi (no) Daijo Fujiwara Masahiro. He received the "Kawachi (no) Daijo title in 1641 so even though the blade is not dated, we do have a point of reference. The hamon is a robust gunome midare with tons of activities in and around it. The hada is typical Hizen ko-itame which is known as konuka hada. This is a blade you will enjoy liiking at for hours.
The cutting edge of this blade is 17 1/4 inches or 43.8 cm. The sori is a graceful torii sori tending to be slightly koshi-zori. There is evidence of a small sword cut across the shinogi-ji in the monouchi area. This blade comes with NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon papers attesting to the quality and authenticity of this blade. It is in a nice polish with a solid silver habaki.
