WHO AM I?
My name is Fred Weissberg (firstname.lastname@example.org)and I have been collecting Japanese Swords and related items for over thirty years. I am a member of the NBTHK ( Nihon Bijitsu Token Hozon Kyokai) in Japan, a member of the board of directors of the American Branch of the NBTHK in the USA, and a member of the board of directors of the NCJSC (Northern California Japanese Sword Club).
Am I a collector? Am I a dealer? I am both. As collectors we all hope to upgrade our collections as our knowledge and expertise grows, thus we sell swords from time to time. Since establishing Nihonto.com in 1996 I have been proud to help many collectors add to their collections while building my own.
Do I buy swords? Absolutely! I buy single swords or whole collections. I
buy for my own collection and I buy for other collectors who may not have
the expertise or opportunity to find and buy swords on their own.
What about appraisal? I am always glad share my knowledge and help anyone
learn about the swords, fittings, etc. that they own. Looking at swords
and related items increases my knowledge and there is no substitute for
research as a learning tool. Thus I gladly help people at no charge or obligation.
Please enjoy this web site. It is not intended to be an all encompassing
text on Japanese swords and related items. Rather, hopefully it will present
enough information to provide a few basics and lead to more in depth discussions
on specific subjects or about specific swords, fittings, armor etc. I look
forward to hearing from anybody and everybody about this most interesting
of subjects, THE JAPANESE SWORD.
