This is a very nice iron tsuba of the Ono school. The Ono school was a group of craftsman in Ono village of Owari province (modern day Nagoya). They are known for making heavy and thick tsuba. This tsuba is almost round and measures 3 inches by 2 15/16 inches or 7.7 cm by 7.5 cm. The mimi (rim) is rounded with large chisel marks showing on the inside of the rim. It is an interesting geometrical design. This tsuba is in excellent condition and comes with NBTHK Hozon papers attesting to its designation as being of the Ono school.
