This is a very nice ko-gatana which is purported to have been made by the fifth generation Iga no Kami Kinmichi. It does not have papers, but ko-gatana seldom do as it is not economically feasible to pay for papers. The original receipt from the Tokyo sword dealer indicates that this was made by the fifth generation Kinmichi and I see no reason to dispute that fact. The workmanship is certainly excellent as is the condition and polish. This ko-gatana sold in 2000 for about $750.00.
It is signed, “Kiku-Nihon Kaji sôsho Iga no Kami Fukiwara Kinmichi. It has been affixed to the shirsaya and I did not try to remove the blade. It comes in a shirasaya with the name of the smith as a sayagaki.
