This is a very nice tsuba with some great workmanship, The iron plate is tapered on the obverse creating a delicate mimi on that side only. Very unusual. The decoration on the plate is done in silver and gold utori, a process of affixing thick gold and silver leaf. This technique is most often seen in ko-Goto and early Kinko schools. Most of the utori is missing on the reverse. This is a large tsuba measuring 8.1 cm or 3 1/4 inches round. The hitsuana are snow flake design and there are shakudo sekigane. There are good tekotsu (bones) on the surface.
