This is a nice iron kodai Higo tsuba. It is carved in an openwork design of bamboo leaves encased in a slightly rectangular shaped iron rim. The overall design is delicate yet strong in true Higo fashion. This tsuba measures 2 11/16 inches or 6.8 cm high by 2 5/8 inches or 6.6 cm wide. It has a thickness at the nakago ana of 0.24 inches or 0.6 cm.
It comes in a wooden box and has been awarded NBTHK Hozon papers attesting to its Higo attribution and its excellent quality and condition.
