This is a beautiful katana by the second generation Tango no Kami Kanemichi. His work is in ths style of the first generation Kanemichi who studied with the Nidai Tango no Kami Yoshimichi. This smith worked around 1681 in Settsu. He was of the Mishina school. He was called Mishina Zempeiji and he worked in Tobu during the Genroku era. His hada is a beautiful ko-itame that is tight and beautiful. His hamon is a hoso suguha that is nie deki. The nie-guchi is bright and clear. This sword has a cutting edge of 27.375 inches or 69.5 cm. The moto-haba is 1.16 inches or 2.9 cm and the saki-haba is .78 inches or 2.0 cm. It is in beautiful polish and is flawless.
This blade comes in a nice set of World War Two Army gunto koshirae that is in good condition. It comes with NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon papers attesting to the authenticity of the signature and the high quality of the blade.
